5 Tooth-Friendly Snacks for the Super Bowl (Go Seahawks!)

Who’s ready to cheer on our beloved Seattle Seahawks? On a scale of 1-10 of excitement, the staff here at Wildwood Dental is a 12!

While a Super Bowl party demands super appetizers, they shouldn’t come at the expense of your teeth. As you begin to plan your menu, we hope you’ll consider these 5 tooth-friendly snacks for the Super Bowl:

  • Quesadillas

    There are many fun ways to dress up a quesadilla, so the possibilities are endless. However, we recommend this apple, brie and arugula variety for a unique spin. We like to say “an apple a day keeps cavities at bay” since apples are ideal food for cleansing and brightening teeth. Another added bonus is apples provide an energy boost. For that, we think quesadillas should be a top draft pick.

  • Hummus

    Hummus is the perfect star condiment for just about anything from sandwiches to carrot sticks. We also love that protein-rich chickpeas don’t contain any saturated fat or cholesterol, which makes hummus a healthy choice – period. Lucky for us, chickpeas are also rich in folic acid, which keeps your mouth healthy by promoting cell growth throughout your body.

  • Meat and Cheese Tray

    Summer sausage is delicious, but the cheese is the starting quarterback in this party tray. Cheese is not only packed with tooth strengthening calcium, but also a protein called casein, which is effective in protecting the surface of your teeth. Talk about a great zone defense!

  • Baked Mozzarella Sticks

    While we’re on the subject of cheese, we have another savory idea: mozzarella sticks. In lieu of the fatty calories that come with frying, bake them instead. Simply freeze string cheese sticks before coating them in panko or plain breadcrumbs and popping them in the oven. Freezing them helps them keep their shape!

  • Veggie Tray

    We like to think of veggies as the defensive lineman of the party – they are there to attack the food collecting on your teeth as you snack during the big game. For each item you eat, we recommend following it up with a glass of water and a stick of celery. After all, chewing celery helps produce more saliva in your mouth, which helps prevent plaque. Win-win.
