’Tis the season for fun, family celebrations and random acts of kindness. It’s also a chaotic time, as we try to get everything baked, bought, and perfected. It’s easy to get wrapped up in our own lives and overlook the reason for the season and the simple things we can do to make someone smile.
Our experts here at Wildwood Dental are encouraging patients to take small actions this holiday season to make someone else’s day a little brighter.
Here are 10 ways to spread smiles this holiday season:
Help a stranger
Hold a door, help pack up groceries, or put the grocery cart away. It’s truly the little things that can mean the most to others.
Challenge yourself to dish out three compliments each day. Not only will it make others smile, but it will bring a smile to your face too!
Give a thoughtful gift to someone who would least expect it, even if it is as simple as a handwritten note.
Ask for donations instead of gifts
Instead of providing gift ideas for an exchange, ask for donations in your name for your favorite charities.
Share love in your neighborhood
Welcome a new neighbor to the neighborhood with a basket of goodies or give them a hand if you see them putting up holiday decorations.
Start a “pay it forward” movement
Do something nice for a stranger and leave a “pay it forward” card so they know to share the love.
Pick up the tab
Pick up someone’s tab, whether it’s at a restaurant or a coffee shop.
It’s an easy time of the year to donate toys, non-perishables and more because many organizations are in need. Keep your eyes open for collection drop-off points and make sure to stop to provide what you can.
Volunteer your time
Call our local food banks and non-profit organizations to see if they could use an extra hand or two. Sometimes time can be more valuable than money.
Sometimes a simple smile can be all a person needs to lift his or her spirits during this busy time of year.
